The Only One of Its Kind

The Lighthouse Classic is the only professional-level miniature golf tournament held anywhere on Long Beach Island or within the surrounding area of Southern Ocean County in New Jersey, but it's also open to amateurs of any age and skill level.

Typically played in May, The Lighthouse Classic is part of the American Mini Golf Alliance tournament lineup each year. As a participating tournament of the AMA, member competitors can earn points toward their national ranking.

About The Lighthouse Classic

Since 1960, Bill Burr's Flamingo Golf has been a mainstay on Long Beach Island and the go-to mini golf spot for generations of families during the summer months.

The venue features one, classic mini golf course, for which most of the holes have retained their original designs and obstacles for 65 years!

Originally owned by Bill Burr, current owner Kirk VanKeuren has worked at Flamingo since his teenage years, taking over the reins to the course in 2000.

Tournament Host

David Biggy is a local journalist with The SandPaper, which publishes his weekly summertime column "Can You Beat Biggy?" — comprising a 12-week series during which challengers from across the country play against him on LBI mini golf courses.

After turning pro in 2020, Biggy claimed the green jacket and golden putter upon winning Episode 4 of Season 3 on the ABC show "Holey Moley" in 2021.

Biggy has been a member of the AMA since its inception in 2023.
